Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

Ultimate Bible ("we", "us", "our") is a free iOS Bible reading application. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control it.

2. Data We Collect

No account is required. When you first launch Ultimate Bible, we automatically assign you an anonymous identifier via Firebase Anonymous Authentication. No email address, name, or password is ever requested or stored.

On-device data (never uploaded):

• Bookmarks, highlights, and personal notes
• Font size preference and last-read position
• Reading history and session duration
• Selected Bible translation

Cloud data (Firebase Firestore) — only when you interact with community features:

• Your anonymous UID, linked to daily verse hearts (likes)
• Comments you post on the Daily Verse, including the display name you choose and an avatar colour
• Reports you file on comments (visible only to moderators)

Analytics & crash reporting (Firebase Analytics / Crashlytics):

• Anonymised device model, OS version, and app version
• Feature usage (which screens are opened, which translations are used)
• Crash stack traces — no personally identifiable information is included

Push notifications (optional): If you grant notification permission, Firebase Cloud Messaging stores a device token to deliver the Daily Verse notification. You can revoke this at any time in iOS Settings.

In-app purchases (RevenueCat): If you choose to leave a tip, RevenueCat processes the transaction via Apple's App Store. We never see your payment card details. RevenueCat may store a pseudonymous customer identifier linked to your anonymous UID.

3. How We Use Your Data

• To deliver core app features (Bible reading, bookmarks, daily verse, comments)
• To understand how people use the app so we can improve it
• To diagnose and fix crashes
• To moderate community content (comments) and keep the space safe
• To send the optional Daily Verse push notification

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your data. We share data only with the following service providers, each bound by their own privacy policies:

• Google Firebase — Anonymous Auth, Firestore, Analytics, Crashlytics, Cloud Messaging, Remote Config, Storage
• RevenueCat — In-app purchase management
• Apple Inc. — App Store distribution and payment processing

We may disclose information if required by law or in response to a valid legal order.

5. Data Storage & Retention

On-device data is stored in your app's private sandbox and is deleted when you uninstall the app. Cloud data (likes, comments, display names) is retained as long as you use the app. You can request deletion of your cloud data by contacting us.

6. Your Rights

• Access: Contact us to request a summary of data we hold linked to your anonymous UID.
• Deletion: Contact us to delete your community data (comments, likes, display name).
• Opt-out of analytics: You can disable analytics tracking in your device's Privacy & Security settings under "Apple Advertising" or by uninstalling the app.
• Notification opt-out: Disable notifications in iOS Settings → Notifications → Ultimate Bible.

7. Children's Privacy

Ultimate Bible is rated 4+ on the App Store and is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Community features (comments) require users to choose a display name — parents should supervise children using these features.

8. Bible Text Licences

The Bible translations included in the app are used under licence from their respective copyright holders. All scripture content remains the property of its publishers.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be announced within the app. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the most current version.
